    Under GST regime, Annual Return in form GSTR 9 needs to be filed with the tax authorities once a year by all the registered tax payers giving detailed summary of outward supply and taxes paid thereon, Input tax credit claimed, taxes paid and refund claimed thereon during the entire financial year.

    Is it compulsory for filing GST Annual Return by every registered taxable person?

    No, the following registered tax payers are exempt from filing Annual Return under GST:

    • Input Service Distributors
    • Tax Deductor registered under section 51
    • Tax Collector registered under section 52
    • Casual Taxable Person
    • Non- Resident Taxable Person

    What is the Due date for filing Annual Return under GST?

    The due date for filing GST Annual Return is 31st December of the succeeding year. However, it may get extended by a notification issued by the government.

    What is the Penalty for delay in filing of Annual Return?

    Penalty @ Rs.100 per day (CGST and SGST separately) is charged for each day of delay beyond the due date of filing Annual Return under GST. However, the maximum penalty cannot exceed 0.25 % of the aggregate turnover in the State during a year.

    What are the Different parts of a GST annual Return?

    GST Annual Return consists of 6 parts:

    • Details of Input Tax Creditas declared in returns filed during financial year
    • Details of Tax Paidas declared in returns filed during financial year

    • Other Details – GST refunds & Demands, HSN Wise summary information of goods recd & supplied, late fees payable & Paid, Segregation of various Inward supplies, HSN Wise summary for outward supplies.
